This outdoor entertaining and living area was an addition to the original home. We extended the existing back porch to create a inviting outdoor living area. There is also a separate grilling area off to the left of the porch. We worked with the home's original materials to keep the same feel of the house while also implementing the new design elements the homeowner wanted featured in the outdoor living space, grill area and all other hardscape elements.
The upper level of this renovation features a bar area with a sink, ice maker, and under cabinet fridge that opens up into the seating area. This entire area can be enclosed with retractable screens that are built into the columns and ceiling, providing protection from the sun and pesky mosquitoes. From the back porch, there is a step down to the renovated pool deck and patio. The steps are flanked by small raised planters to help define the space and provide a backdrop against the upper level of the porch. To the left of the porch there is a covered grill station that houses the gas grill, green egg, power burner and stainless doors and drawers for storage. The custom awning is made of a standing seam metal roof and large handmade corbels. To the right of the porch is a raised area with a custom pergola that holds a wooden swing and string lights. The columns are made of brick to tie the design back into the brick on the house and the wood beams match the style of the wood in the living area.
If you enter from the driveway there is a custom painted brick wall and wooden door that provides privacy to the back yard as well as creating an appealing entry into the space. Each brick column is adorned with a rustic electric lantern.
